AT&T Labs researcher, Bill Cheswick, made it on the 2008 Ziff Davis Enterprise's List of Most Influential People in IT for his innovation in the area of communications research.
The SENSEable City Laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) worked with AT&T to create a project called New York Talk Exchange (NYTE). The exhibit, which debuted at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), transforms the volumes of voice, data, and Internet Protocol (IP) communications flowing into and out of New York City over the AT&T network into visual formats that illustrate how thoroughly connected the five boroughs are with the world.
Researchers at the SENSEable City Laboratory at MIT created a project called New York Talk Exchange (NYTE), which visualizes global Internet and voice traffic in and out of New York City. AT&T is a project sponsor. The NYTE project visualizations use measurements of the volume of IP and voice traffic from AT&T's network.
AT&T recognized 17 employees for their outstanding achievements and contributions made to the technical community. The recipients of the AT&T Fellows Honor and Science and Technology Medalists were honored at the AT&T Technology Awards Dinner in Bedminster, NJ.
AT&T was awarded a Technology & Engineering Emmy Award by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for its 75-year old coaxial cable invention.
