3rd Workshop on Algorithm Engineering and Experiments
ALENEX 01
January 5-6, 2001, Washington, DC
The 3rd Workshop on Algorithm Engineering and Experiments (ALENEX 01),
was held in Washington, DC, on January 5-6, 2001.
The workshop was held in the Wyndham City Center Hotel,
the same hotel in which
SODA 01
took place the following 3 days, January 7-9, 2001.
The aim of the annual ALENEX workshops is to provide a forum for the
presentation of original research in the implementation and experimental
evaluation of algorithms and data structures.
Papers presented original research
in all aspects of algorithm engineering and experimentation including:
- Implementation, experimental testing, and fine-tuning of discrete algorithms.
- Development of software repositories and platforms which allow
use of, and experimentation with, efficient discrete algorithms.
- Methodological issues including standards in the context of
empirical research on algorithms and data structures.
- Methodological issues regarding the process of converting user
requirements into efficient algorithmic solutions and implementations.
A special issue of the
ACM Journal of Experimental Algorithmics
will be devoted to selected papers from this workshop.
We will maintain a
page of links to code and data
made available
by authors of ALENEX'01 papers.
