Sales Pitch
A climbing guide to New Jersey? As likely as a deep-sea fishing guide
to Nebraska, you say? Not so! Scattered throughout the Garden State are
a number of worthwhile cliffs, outcrops and boulders. This first-of-a-kind
guide presents you with a suprising abundance of multi-pitch traditional
routes, heinous boulder problems, bolted faces and top-rope lines located
throughout central and northern NJ, and just over the state's borders. Some
big-name climbers have trained on the rock described in these pages: Henry
Barber, Jeff Gruenberg, Lynn Hill, Colin Lanz, Russ Raffa, William Shockley
and many others.
This guide describes over twenty climbing areas and about 400 routes
and boulder problems. It provides directions to each area, lists the principal
routes and boulder problems, and describes the atmosphere to be found there
(solitude or crowds, scenic views or broken bottles, solid rock or friable
grunge). Maps, topos and photographs are included where relevant.
